Following the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine №785 dated from 10.12.2003 in September 2004 the Representative office of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine started its activity in Donetsk (with consular district of Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Lugansk & Zaporizhzha regions).

Main functions of the Representative office are:
1) demand, consular legalization of documents & APOSTILE stamping;
2) assisting foreign diplomatic missions and consular offices, representatives of international organizations in establishing contacts to representatives of local authorities, assisting foreign delegations and officials of MFA in developing and accomplishing the programs of staying in the region;
3) executing within its responsibility of general control of carrying out by local authorities the international agreements of Ukraine and giving proper commentaries;
4) assisting local authorities in establishing contacts to foreign consular representations;
5) reception of citizens of Ukraine, foreigners and persons without citizenship in questions of its competence.
